It has been a hypothesis related to schizophrenia that dopamine, also know as dopamine hypothesis of psychosis is that the dopamine is a signal transducer in the brain. That it is what attributes to symptoms of schizophrenia that are observed with individuals. This again is a hypothesis that researchers feels contributes to schizophrenia. They have observed that with the effects of drugs such as amphetamine and cocaine they have increased the levels of dopamine in the brain. This has been expressed sometimes in they symptoms of schizophrenia. The result of the “amphetamine psychosis” or “cocaine psychosis” is to produce symptoms that resemble the problems of schizophrenia. As a result they have felt the presence of dopamine in the mind can be a contributor to possible incidents of schizophrenia. Therefore studies are being done to try and confirm this is the case and determine the best ways of prescribing medications that can assist with reducing the problem. This has also been observed as a problem with the area of Parkinson.s disease as has been view during experiments held to test the correlation between dopamine and the substance levodopa that is related to Parkinson.s disease. This is all part of what has been observe in patients schizophrenia who have demonstrated increased signs when methlyphenidate or amphetamine or some other dopamine type of substance are used by the person.

With this being such a technical subject and one that is still under research the studies continue. They are in the every diligent process of trying to identify and analyze the data to get and exact understanding. So through the process of experimenting and observing the scientist continue to seek answers to help with the types of medications that can possible reduce the problems of dopamine and to help with the treatment of schizophrenia. This takes time and study and there is an ongoing method used to assess the problems and collect facts. They have t continue to analyze the data based on what patients exhibit as symptoms and also what kind of drugs may help to decrease the problem.

So the study continues and there is a difference of opinion on the part of researchers as to the relationship of dopamine and they symptoms of schizophrenia. With the use of PET scans some studies have suggested that the brain.s receptors actually block the impact of drugs that help to cause dopamine. Again this is a matter of individual conclusions on the part of researchers. So this means that no one single hypothesis prevails as being completely accepted within the medical community. Therefore until such time that the facts allow for a specific conclusion that is unanimously accept it will remain a matter of more study and research. This is the way that they are approaching the theory and attempt to come to a specific conclusion. Until that happens, the arguments on both sides of the subject will continue to exist.

For the present those who suffer from schizophrenia will continue to have to rely upon the help of those who are experts in this field. They are doing everything they can to analyze and recognize the problems that attribute to this disease. And to do all they can to try and find solutions that are going to be beneficial to those are suffer from these problems. This requires the time and continued study so that any realistic facts can be discerned. Hopefully they will get to a final conclusion in a reasonable time and then the research will end up leading to some help. That is always the desired goal of any such efforts to help those in need of treatments.
